 At The Data Protection Expert, we aim to provide you with an excellent and personal service in pursuit of your Data Protection epiphany.  To do this, we need to collect certain pieces of data about you.  This policy describes what we collect, how we use it and how we protect it.  It also tells you your rights under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and any other applicable regulation or law.

 What data do we collect?

We collect 'business card' contact details for the purposes of providing our services on a contractural basis.  This data will be your name, work address, work email and work telephone number. As a client depending on the type of work we do for you we may also retain information about your place in the organisation, the staff in the organisation and their roles, and the project we are working on.

If you populate the 'contact us' form on our website, will collect the data you fill in.  When you contact us by phone or email, we will also store these details on a legitimate interests basis to respond to your email.

We may also collect and store other data about you that are publically available, such as from your own website, Companies House or Linkedin.

What do we use your data for?

The information collected is used to maintain contact with you to manage your relationship with us and to deliver the work we agree to undertake for you.

Do we share you data with anyone else?

We will never share your data with anyone else, unless we are required by law to do so for a specific purpose.

We use third party services to store data and for email. We will make sure that the organisations we use are reputable and secure, to keep your data safe.

What are your rights?

At any time you can ask to view, update or correct any data we hold about you. You can also ask that we stop using your data and that we delete it. To request any of these please contact us and we will respond to you with 30 days.

Does your data leave the EU?

None of the processing required to complete your contract happens outside of the EU.  Our email and web services are maintained by the usual big US companies; Google, Oath and Squarespace, with the data being maintained in the EU.  These companies are also registered with the Privacy Sheild.

Will this policy change?

Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time and any changes to the statement will be communicated to you by way of an e-mail or a notice on our website.
